Providence Baptist Church was founded in 1866 in a log cabin used as a
school on the site of the present church. Services were held on Saturday afternoon by
visiting preachers. They continued there until a new building was constructed at the
turn of the century.
A fire consumed the church in February of 1958, destroying the building but not the
spirit of the people. Never missing a service, the congregation met in a chicken house
until the new church was completed in the fall of 1959.
Eleven years later, an educational building was added to the present structure. The
steeple provided a crowning touch to the church in 1991. We are a growing church. By
God's unfailing grace, we completed our new Family Life Center in the spring of 2001. God
is doing some amazing things here at Providence Baptist Church.
The word "providence" means the care or benevolent guidance of God as our guiding
power. With God as our guiding light, we continue to serve our risen Lord.
